Psychosexual therapy is an integrative approach that brings together talking therapy and behavioural techniques to address sexual difficulties and concerns. It can be undertaken individually or with a partner, and is tailored to progress at a pace that feels right for you.
Whatever has brought you here, whether that’s mismatched desire, difficulties reigniting intimacy, pain during sex, difficulties with arousal or orgasm, erectile dysfunction, or the impact of trauma, illness, or major life changes on your sex life, this is your space to explore it, without shame
Sexual difficulties can feel very isolating, you may feel self-conscious or unsure how to begin talking about them, whether that’s with a partner or a professional. However, sexual difficulties are more common than people realise. Sexual difficulties can have many roots; emotional (such as relationship dissatisfaction, affairs, or grief), psychological (anxiety, depression, or other mental health conditions), physical (illness, disability, or medication), or cultural and societal expectations. Often, several of these are at play at once.
I have specialist training in a model that is integrative, non-pathologising and addresses both sexual and relational issues. I draw on a range of models that blend psychoeducation and behavioural exercises with systemic, psychodynamic and somatic approaches. I will always tailor our work to what feels most helpful for you. Our sessions will begin with a thorough assessment of the presenting issue, including any relevant medical factors. I also take time to understand the fuller picture, exploring how relationship dynamics, personal history, culture, sex education and sexual development may be contributing factors.
I work in a way that is genuinely inclusive and affirming of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship structures, drawing on the principles of Gender, Sexuality, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD) therapy.
I am an accredited member of BACP, the professional association for members of the counselling profession in the UK.
My fee for individual therapy is £65 per session and for couples it is £90. Each session lasts 50 minutes. I reserve a certain number of concessionary spaces for those on low income, so please let me know if you’re looking for a reduced fee when contacting me.
Every new client attends a consultation. This is charged at £65 per session. This is an opportunity for you to discuss in more detail what brings you to therapy, and for you to decide whether we can work well together
Finding the right therapist for you is really important, so if you have any initial questions I am more than happy to have a brief chat on the phone.
